WE ARE A RESOURCE FOR YOU!

The Whirling Disease Initiative Outreach Program is designed to be a resource for you. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive source of current information about whirling disease research and management. Information about whirling disease is available in many, many forms for a variety of audiences and purposes. In addition, we are interested in cooperating with you to produce outreach materials that meet your needs. Read on for a list of resources currently available.

The Whirling Disease Initiative Web site: This Web site was developed in 2004 and is the authoritative source for whirling disease information on the Internet. The Web site is the primary outreach vehicle for the Initiative. Visit it at: http://whirlingdisease.montana.edu.

The Whirling Disease Initiative Newsletter: The newsletter is a quarterly publication distributed by mail and email to a national audience of researchers, managers, and interested members of the public. The first issue was published in January 2005 and distribution now reaches more than 1,000 recipients. Check out the newsletter.

Brochures: Brochures can be developed and tailored for specific audiences. Currently, one general whirling disease brochure has been developed including frequently asked questions, background, and the most up-to-date and accurate information. See the brochure.

"Black Tale: The Whirling Disease Invaders" Documentary Film: The Whirling Disease Initiative will release several documentary film products in Fall 2006: one 26-minute film, one 14-minute film, and several short news clips all available on one DVD. The films highlight the whirling disease parasite’s life cycle, and current topics in research and management.

Presentations, posters and more: Kajsa Stromberg, Outreach Coordinator, is available to give presentations and to help develop workshops, posters and other materials as needed. Contact Kajsa to discuss your ideas at kstromberg@montana.edu.
